Kontias is one of the largest villages of the Limnos Island with six hundred permanent residents. Just 10 km. from the capital of the island, Myrina, is characterized by its picturesqueness, the wonderful beach of Evgatis with its fine sand and its port on the other side, Diapori, with its picturesque cafes and traditional taverns on the sea. Inside the village, the small cafes drowned in mulberry trees host famous politicians and artists. Kontias is also home to the Art Gallery which hosts works by famous Balkan painters who created during their participation in two Balkan painting symposia organized in Lemnos in 1999 and 2001.
